The Rapture Occurs on the Day of the Lord

--by James A. Arendt, December 1, 2021

The Rapture

This post is to add more information on what I wrote on my October 6, 2020 post called, The Popular but False Doctrine of the Rapture.

And why did I call the doctrine of the Rapture false? I am talking about how the majority of evangelicals define the Rapture:

A) The rapture doctrine purports that Christ will come back to this earth in two phases. First, He will come spiritually to "rapture away" believers who have been faithful to Him. This first phase of His coming is going to be silent or secret.

B) After the righteous are raptured away to heaven, a fierce antichrist power will appear on the earth and rule the world for a period of seven years. This seven-year period is popularly referred to as the tribulation period.

C) During this tribulation period, people who will refuse to go along with the new order of the antichrist will be brutally persecuted. However, amidst the great persecution by this satanic power, anyone who will believe and embrace Christ at this difficult time will have a second chance at salvation.

D) After the seven-year tribulation period, Christ returns visibly to destroy the antichrist power and dispense His wrath on the world's nations. This is the general teaching of the secret rapture doctrine. (From: https://whitethroneministries.org/resources/lessons/the-secret-rapture-doctrine )

None of the above are supported by Scripture! All of these statements are speculation, reading into the Bible what isn't there, and based on a false interpretation of the 70th Week of Daniel.

Today, December 1st 2021, I saw for the first time that the prophecy at the end of I Thessalonians chapter four does not end with that chapter but it continues on with more information in chapter five! And that shows it's a continuous event!

1 Thessalonians 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
1 Thessalonians 5:1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

If you keep in mind there are no chapter breaks in the original text, you will see the prophecy at the end of First Thessalonians chapter 4 continues on to chapter 5. And if you see that, I think you should see that the rapture of the saints happens the same day as the destruction of the wicked. Therefore it cannot be a secret event!

Another Scripture that confirms the rapture occurs on the Day of the Lord:

Matthew 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat (the redeemed of Christ Jesus) into my barn.

My name is James Arendt. I was raised in the Hegewisch neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, served in the USAF from 1970 to 1974, and became a full-time missionary for Christ living 40 years in Japan, 3.5 years in Russia, and a few months in other countries such as Finland, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, South Korea, Taiwan and mainland China where I also served the King of Kings, Jesus, as an Ambassador for His Kingdom. My full bio.

On September 24, 2023, I had an accident and broke the bone of the tip of my left elbow. A boy ran in front of my motorbike less than 2 meters from me as I was leaving home. I stopped suddenly and my front tire slid on the sandy concrete road which caused me to fall. I did not hit the boy. On October 18th I had surgery done on my elbow. The doctor put in titanium rods to hold my bones together. The entire procedure including an entire week in the hospital was roughly $4000 USD. This was done in the Philippines where my wife and I have been living since June this year.

X-rays of bone before and after surgery that inserted titanium rods to reinforce my broken bone.

Before and after one week in the hospital.

Undergoing therapy to bend my arm again.
I'm now undergoing therapy to be able to bend my arm again.

James, Jesus said “the harvest is the end of the world” - meaning that the “rapture” and the “harvest” are NOT the same event - they happen a thousand years apart at with end of the thousand year “day of the Lord”. Here’s something to consider

Daniel, what about this scripture?

Matthew 13:30  Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

It sure sounds like the same event to me. First the tares - the wicked - are gonna be removed from the world and THEN the wheat - the saints are gonna be raptured.

YES JAMES, it is true that many evangelicals have a misunderstanding of Endtime events. HOWEVER, Jesus does make TWO appearances - once "in the clouds" at the Rapture (Matt24:29-31 KJV) when we meet the Lord "in the air" (1Thess4"16-17 KJV), and then once again when he returns with his saints to touch down on the mount of Olives for the battle of Armageddon. (Rev16:12-16, Rev19:11 to Rev20:3, Zech14:4 KJV) Correctly balanced scripture makes it very clear that Jesus appears once "in the clouds" ... Read More

Daniel, I think I already covered that Matthew 24 is not talking about the Rapture. Yes, Jesus made one appearance in 70 AD to show the unbelieving Jews that they were being judged for their rejection of Jesus of Nazareth as the Christ, and will of course appear in the clouds on the day of the Lord to take the rest of the saints to heaven.

The high priest who put Jesus on the cross saw Jesus in the clouds in 70 AD. And he knew it was a fulfillment of what Jesus told him 40 years earlier.

Matthew 26:64  Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
65  Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.

We are talking about history and fulfilled prophecy, not something that happens in the future.

And I already made it clear the tribulation talked about in Matthew 24 is all about the judgment of the unbelieving Jews, not Christians. Luke 21 clearly says so.

If you don't agree, fine, but please don't post any more doctrines which I have already covered why they are not biblically sound.

James, 1Thess5:20 KJV says to PROVE all things. Therefore, can you prove from scripture your claim that Jesus appeared to the Jews in 70AD?
Admin:
Yes I can prove it because Jesus told the high priest he would see him.

Matthew 26:63  But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.
64  Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
65  Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.

And when Jesus was talking to His disciples, He said some would see him before they died.

Matthew 16:28  Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

We have been led astray by Scofield's interpretation of Matthew 24, and his interpretation came from Clarence Larkin and John Nelson Darby, and they got it from the Jesuits, but maybe not directly.  It's what the Catholic Church wants us to believe in order to put the prophecies as yet unfulfilled. This is not what Bible commentators up to the 18th century used to teach.

TRUE ... that the Rapture happens on "the day of CHRIST" (2Thess2:1-2 KJV) Let's take a closer look at correctly balanced scripture, BUT be careful of which Bible translation you use, BECAUSE publishers have carelessly interchanged "the day of Christ" and "the day of the Lord". The "day of Christ" is when the Rapture happens, which is the FIRST day of the THOUSAND-YEAR "day of the LORD" - "in the which", or during which time the earth is judged with fire. (2Pet3:10 KJV) This understanding is ... Read More
