Bible Basics - Scriptures about Salvation

1. All men are sinners:

2. Salvation by grace (undeserved mercy), not works:

3. Salvation only through Jesus:

4. Believe on Jesus:

5. Receive Jesus:

6. Eternal salvation:

A. You can never lose it, even if you make mistakes and fall:

B. But the Lord will chasten you for wrongdoing:

Webmaster's comment: The Gospel of Christ does NOT give us license to willfully sin! We are not under the law of Moses any longer, but receiving Jesus Christ as our LORD means we are supposed to obey Him! And that includes all the admonitions of the Apostle Paul such as,
Ephesians 5:18  And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Romans 6:4  Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
2 Timothy 2:19  ¶Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

7. Receiving Jesus guarantees eternal life in Heaven:

8. The results of being born again:

A. Spiritual rebirth makes you a new creature:

B. You will desire to work for Jesus:

9. Sin brings about spiritual death; but Jesus died in our place, taking our punishment:

10. In the Mosaic law, blood is payment for sin; Jesus' death paid that price in full:

11. All men are not saved sons of God in their natural state:

12. The self-righteous refuse Jesus' salvation:

(See Mat.5:20; 9:10-13; 21:31b; Lk.18:9-14; Jn.5:39-44; Rom.10:3; 1Jn.1:9,10.)

13. New Testament examples of salvation:

James Arendt

My name is James Arendt. I was raised in the Hegewisch neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, served in the USAF from 1970 to 1974, and became a full-time missionary for Christ living 40 years in Japan, 3.5 years in Russia, and a few months in other countries such as Finland, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, South Korea, Taiwan and mainland China where I also served the King of Kings, Jesus, as an Ambassador for His Kingdom. My full bio.

On September 24, 2023, I had an accident and broke the bone of the tip of my left elbow. A boy ran in front of my motorbike less than 2 meters from me as I was leaving home. I stopped suddenly and my front tire slid on the sandy concrete road which caused me to fall. I did not hit the boy. On October 18th I had surgery done on my elbow. The doctor put in titanium rods to hold my bones together. The entire procedure including an entire week in the hospital was roughly $4000 USD. This was done in the Philippines where my wife and I have been living since June this year.

X-rays of bone before and after surgery that inserted titanium rods to reinforce my broken bone.

Before and after one week in the hospital.

Undergoing therapy to bend my arm again.
I'm now undergoing therapy to be able to bend my arm again.

Hey thanks so much for posting this. It's really helping me as I put together a Gospel presentation for a band gig. I would definitely read more. Many thanks! Jordan
I just wanted to let you know that Salvation page is great. As I and my friends minister the Gospel to kids in L.A. area prisons, this page will help us in the message flow. We only have 15 minutes in most cases and the desire is to deliver the scriptures that cut right to the point. This allows us to build a foundation that we and others will use in discipleship of these kids. God's blessings to you all and thanks! Phil
Thank you for the scriptures, I am working with a young man who has recently lost his dad. He wants to know more about God and salvation. I am praying, and hope to reach him with the gospel. He has a young live-in girlfriend, and they have two children together. They were both baptized catholic at an early age, but neither have ever went to church anywhere. I believe they are searching, but it's hard to work through the religious aspect without exposing the truth to them and not offend them at the same time. Pray for them his name is JR and her name us Danielle

I appreciate what you put together. At the same time, I think you miss things that Jesus says that bring strong question to your apparent conclusion that once someone thinks they are saved they can't lose it. To reach such a conclusion suggests that salvation is a one-time event, rather than an ongoing process that the individual can't drop out of. "Believe in" means "trust" and if you trust, then you "hear and do" not just hear (Matt 7:21-27), then you aren't trying to burn a dry lamp without ... Read More

You're correct that I suggest salvation is a one-time event. It is a one time event. The Bible says in two places that those in Christ Jesus have passed from death unto life!

John 5:24  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

1 John 3:14  ¶We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

Sam Mugote (Jinja, Uganda) says...
When one says salvation can't be lost then we must counsel Jesus and caution Him in the strongest terms possible to repent of His words in Rev 3:5-8 about the Sardis church. Or is He making empty threats? "He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels." Revelation 3:5 Why would Jesus blot out a name which He graciously wrote in the first ... Read More
