Virginia Brandt Berg was a famous woman evangelist, healer and one of the first radio evangelists in America in the beginning of the 20th century. She was the daughter of a wealthy family of ministers, who lost her faith through modernism in Bible College and consequently became a prodigal socialite that travelled Europe and wasted her fortunes in gambling, partying and living it up with the "cream of the crop."
She was about to get married to Bruce Bogart, cousin of Humphrey, when a talented Swedish singer stole her heart with his songs, after which they promptly eloped. The Swede Hjalmer Berg then was converted during one of her fathers services, and turned into a staunch believer himself. Virginia was disappointed, but stayed with him. Immediately after the birth of her first baby, she was carried from the car and dropped by accident. She broke her back in several places on the curb. She was in a 5 year deathbed but after united prayer was finally miraculously healed in an instant. (See her book "The Hem of His garment" for the rest of the story.)
