The world has changed considerably in just my own lifetime of 64 years years. The media — radio, television, Hollywood films, magazines and newspapers have slowly and subtly changed the viewpoints and mindsets of an entire generation of Americans, and America has influenced the entire world. TV personality Bill Maher mocks Christians and their faith, and makes all sorts of statements of blasphemy against God and Jesus Christ and gets away with it. But what do you think would happen if Maher made a single remark even hinting that he was against gays and or their lifestyle? He would be fired from his job in no time.
The Bible predictions a great apostasy in the last days.
In Matthew chapter 24 verse 12 it says,
“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”
Love for what and whom? Love for God, His Son Jesus Christ, and love for His written Word in the Holy Scriptures, the Bible.
The Jesuit / Roman Catholic tactic to fight the Protestant Reformation was “learning against learning.” The invention and popularization of the printing press broke Rome’s monopoly allowing Protestantism to flourish by putting inexpensive Bibles in the believer’s hands. In order to counteract it, Rome fought back with pagan Gnostic doctrines of Humanism. Humanism appears to the pride of man because it teaches that the people can be their own god and create their own destiny.
Many Christians today just do not know or read their own Bibles! They are ignorant of what the Word of God says.
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” — Hosea 4:6
If we do not know what the Bible says, we fall into error.
Mathew 22:29 Ye do err, not knowing the Scriptures…
Believers ignorant of what the Bible really says can be easily led astray by false teachers:
I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ – Galatians 1:6,7.
The Pharisees, the Roman Catholic Church, the Russian / Greek Orthodox Church, and some Protestant churches give more prominence to their traditions and church doctrines over what the Bible has to say.
Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: — Isaiah 29:13
But he (Jesus) answered and said unto them (the Jewish religious leaders) , “Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?” — Matthew 15:3
Some preachers have twisted what the Bible says to pursue their own doctrines.
