What is “The Covenant” of the Book of Daniel? — 3 Comments

  1. I feel that it is so important that we all understand just what the Abomination of desolation is. Praise Jesus. DANIEL 9 – 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the SACRIFICE and the OBLATION to cease, and for the overspreading of ABOMINATIONS he shall make it DESOLATE, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the DESOLATE.

  2. Hi James, thanks for your response. The roman army no doubt did destroy the temple in 70 A.D. But clearly that was just an intermediate fulfilment of Matthew 24:15, Luke 21:20. The disciples asked Jesus “what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” The main sign Jesus gave was When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be, Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Clearly Jesus did not return in 70 A.D. But was pointing us to a later time when the ultimate fulfilment of “The Abomination Of Desolation” takes place under the Antichrist as told by Daniel the prophet in chapter 11:31 “And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate” he then tells us that at that time Chapter 12 “there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time, And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. These were the events Jesus was talking about answering the disciples question “what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” It couldn’t possible have happened when the romans came because Jesus did not return in the clouds as he said and there was no resurrection, the romans destroying the temple was clearly not the ultimate fulfilment.
